AnomalyCon is a Steampunk convention ran and managed by the Colorado Steampunk community, with an added focus on science fiction and fantasy. Since 2012, the convention has been delivering brassy, bearded servings of Victoriana to the heart of Denver, and in March 2017 it will once more be gracing the Hyatt Regency Denver Tech Centre with three days of sophistication and class.
Special guests at the event are set to include writer and blogger K. Tempest Bradford, historical fiction author Roberto Calas, science fiction novelist Wesly Chu, gamer Tanya DePass and comic artist Ariela Kristantina. All these and more will be available for chats and signings.
Performers at the convention will include MC and DJ Doctor Q and experimental dance artist Stoneburner, both of whom will be blasting some beats and cranking up the atmosphere.
Just like every year, a big feature in 2017 will be a load of contests and competitions, including a costume contest. Entrants can strut their stuff on stage for a maximum of 60 seconds, and categories include craftsmanship, creativity and best prop. It’s the best way to show off your Steampunk craft and creation, so get yourself donned up and decked out!
The facial hair competition seeks to celebrate Victoriana in all its grizzly glory, and even artificial entrants are welcome, which gives everyone a chance to get involved. Groom, grow and graze yourself silly in an attempt to capture a prize and garner some envy.
Tea dueling contests will take place throughout the entire three days, so if you fancy yourself as a dunking maestro, there’s only one way to prove it. You are also invited to enter the art contest and create the winning design of the convention logo… the possibilities are endless, so long as they have a Steampunk twist.
The gruesome and ghastly Murder Mystery invites comers to sleuth out the clues and pick up a prize by figuring out whodunit (and who didn’t). Get involved!
It’s set to be another fun year, bedecked with beards, costumes, fun and flair. Come to AnomalyCon and Steampunk up your March!
