Impressively young, only four years old, Salt Lake Comic Con has shattered records since its first successful event in 2013. Immediately attracted 72,000 unique visitors, SLCC was crowned the largest secular convention in Utah. Twice as many visitors came to Salt Lake City in SLCC’s second year, launching it into international fame as the third largest American pop culture convention, and the world's biggest convention per capita! Salt Lake Comic Con’s multi-day event is held annually and continues to grow. Attracting over 170,000 visitors in 2016, this fall, 2017, SLCC expects to have more visitors, vendors, guests, games, and pop culture activities than any year before!
Salt Lake Comic Con is run and created by Bryan Brandenburg and Dan Farr, produced yearly by Dan Farr Productions, and partnered with community and national organizations including the Boy Scouts of America, Children’s Miracle Network, and the Granite School District. SLCC sponsored by industry giants like Fox 13 KSTU, Comcast, Howling Fun Games, and Video Games Live; this allows the SLCCC organizers to host two MiniCons, a cosplay contest, and many cosplay meetups and design workshops, with your favorite cosplay idols. Celebrity guests including Val Kilmer will be celebrating at SLCCC too, offering meet and greets, autographs and photo ops, while entertaining you with their wit and ability, at the various celebrity panels and ‘game show’ events.
Salt Lake Comic Con welcomes the whole family as they visit the Salt Palace Convention Center, to enjoy and participate in family-friendly programming, games, and activities. Proud to be a family event, KidCon ensures that the youngest of children, and the young at heart, enjoy their stay at SLCC while being immersed in the spectacular worlds of fantasy, pop culture, and comics. Children and parents will work, learn, and play side by side while completing crafts, and winning prizes from activities including face painting, a princess’ tea party, wizard training classes, and a kid’s cosplay panel!
Of course, kids are not the only ones who get to enjoy cosplaying at SLCC this fall. With a multi-event lineup dedicated to cosplay, including a massive cosplay tournament, multiple meetups with photo ops, crafting workshops hosted by professional cosplayers, and a new event being kept under wraps the ‘Cosplay Crossroads,’ cosplayers and fans alike are sure to find the perfect way to fill their time. Be sure to look for professional cosplayers, and cosplay groups, like the 501st Legion, S.T.A.R.S, Umbrella Corporation, Ghostbusters SLC, the Rebel Legion, Starfleet Command, and Cecil Grimes, that will be hosting their own cosplay booths and signing autographs, as they invade SLCC.
